safeguarding

It's everyone's business...

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding defines the measures put in place to protect the health, well-being and human rights of individuals, which allow people - especially children, young people and vulnerable adults - to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

Creating a safe and welcoming environment, where everyone is respected and valued, is at the heart of safeguarding.  It’s about making sure things are run in a way that actively prevents harm, harassment, bullying, abuse and neglect. It’s also about being ready to respond safely and well if there is a problem. Everyone has a role to play in safeguarding.

In An Emergency...

If you have information about a safeguarding situation where a child or adult is in immediate danger, or requires immediate medical attention, call the emergency services on 999.

Do not delay.

Our Commitment

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is at the heart of our Christian faith. We are committed to the safeguarding, care and nurture of everyone within the church community and beyond.

We follow the national legal and procedural framework for safeguarding children and adults, and Church of England policy and practice. Within the March Team Ministry, we uphold The House of Bishops’ Safeguarding Policy Statement which states that:  ‘The Church will strive to create and maintain environments that are safer for all, that promote well-being, that prevent abuse, and that create nurturing, caring conditions within the Church for children, young people and vulnerable adults…The Church will strive to support everyone to adhere to safer working good practice and to challenge the abuse of power. ‘
